SOLSTICE SURVIVAL GUIDE

Event time: 12PM 11/15 – 2PM 11/16.

The location is right above Barstow. If you need to have a general idea, Search “Kramer Junction” on maps and it will put you within 30-ish minutes of the party.

THIS A PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT EVENT. There will be trashcans, but please be mindful of your trash as you are personally responsible for all trash and items you bring to the desert.

THERE WILL BE PORTA POTTIES AVAILABLE! Even though there will be Porta-Pottys, if for whatever reason you have to go #2 and you’re not near one or can’t make it, bring a shovel to dig a small hole and cover your business.

At the end of the day, we cannot control what everyone does, but if you choose to do this, please do it correctly with biodegradable TP and dig at least 8 inches down and cover your business afterwards.

We HIGHLY recommend bringing compostable consumables if you plan on bringing any, like napkins, wipes, etc. We WANT you to pack light for this show, as we want it to be the least encumbering desert show you attend.

We want to emphasize BRINGING ONLY WHAT YOU NEED. DO NOT LITTER. BRING REUSABLE CUPS AND BIODEGRADABLE CONSUMABLES. THE GOAL OF THE SHORTER PARTY LENGTH, AGAIN, IS TO LIMIT WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING.

Pro tip: come in the outfit you plan to party in so all you have to do is pack cozy clothes for night!

*Key things to bring*

WATER, BANDANA, GOGGLES/GLASSES (if you wear contacts and are worried about dust, bring some type of eyewear that will protect your eyes from all sides), HAT, SUNSCREEN, WARM CLOTHES, SNACKS, BIODEGRADABLE CONSUMABLES.

Lastly, everyone is free to bring a tent and camp for the night if they so choose, HOWEVER, unless you’re carpooling with a lot of people, we recommend using your vehicle for naps/rest. It’ll lighten your pack load,  be more comfortable, unless you’re bringing a cot or air-mattress, and it can help you catch a few hours to quickly get back to the groove.

The party is ending at approx. 2PM Sunday which should be ample time to pack your things and leave before sunset around 5PM.

There WILL BE AREAS FOR FIRE SPINNING AND OPEN FLAMES. We will forcefully put out any flames outside of these areas and ask people to leave who do not respect this rule as it is a safety hazard for others and the entire state of California. This is private land, and we are allowed to take the measures we deem fit in order to maintain safety and order.

PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL, HAVE GOOD ATTITUDES, AND DO NOT BRING NEGATIVITY, DRAMA, OR VIOLENCE TO THIS EVENT.

It is our job AS A COMMUNITY to create a safe and fun place for everyone, so please, DON’T BE THAT PERSON. We promise you won’t want to be.

AGAIN, DO NOT LITTER.

FOOD OPTIONS:

We will have food options for a period of time! We will have smoked BBQ earlier in the day on Saturday. IF YOU PURCHASED A HAT, EACH HAT PURCHASE COMES WITH A PLATE OF BBQ OF YOUR CHOICE.

As of now, there will be a red meat, white meat, and veg option for BBQ. Based on what’s left over, the BBQ will be available until it’s gone, so even if you get there later in the evening, there should be warm plates available as long as we don’t sell out.

Later in the evening/morning we are tentatively serving tacos for those hungry attendees. If neither option, BBQ or tacos, sounds good to you, or you just want to YOLO it, we recommend eating one hearty meal before you get there, having two solid meals ready to eat while you’re there, and then having a few snacks (preferably snacks with a solid amount protein; protein shakes are goated) ready to fill in the gaps.

Also, BRING 1 GALLON OF WATER PER PERSON minimum is our recommendation.

What’s a quick and easy meal? – PBJ and a Banana. Bagel with PB/Honey, Beef Jerky, Tuna sandwhich, Pickles, fruit, etc.

These are just some ideas of quick/filling options that have decent protein/mineral value and are also storable without refrigeration.

AGAIN, DO NOT LITTER.

WEATHER:

As of now, November 15th is planning to be a bit of colder day, with the High @ 65 and Low @ 41. No matter what the weather says, as desert veterans we can confidently say IT WILL BE COLD AT NIGHT NO MATTER WHAT

The hours from 2am-6am are generally the coldest, and we plan to have little space heaters throughout the dance-floor, HOWEVER, do not rely on these!

If you’re someone who’s like, “well I’m not sure what that means, and I don’t have any cold weather clothes”. My best recommendation to you would be to bring a snow outfit with some sort of warm headwear.

Why? Because if you can stay warm in snow, you’ll be fine in the desert and it’s usually only a few articles of clothing to pack instead of a bunch of sweaters/blankets.

If your a person with cold hands, bring gloves. Also, if you want, little camp hand-warmers are great and you can get them at any Walmart or Amazon. By all means, do whatever you want to stay warm, but just know it WILL be cold at night.

We will also be under a covering, so keep in mind that even though it may not be a fully sealed covering, it should be enough to protect us from any potential light morning drizzle or anything of that sort.

Oh, and DO NOT LITTER.
